Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam was a back-up singer with Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years of age, her dad landed an appointment as the curator at Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. The 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated and a major in the field of vocal music. Sullivan began singing as a contralto in the children's choir. She then joined shortly after, she was a part of the adult group. Sullivan was not aware of secular music at the beginning. "When I turned 11 years old, someone asked to enroll me on an album of gospel music. I wasn't going to make that decision," she says. "Then the time came that McDonald's had a competition for students in big cities I had the opportunity to sing 'Accept What God Allows' on It's Showtime in the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year thirteen. Sullivan was first signed to Jive Records at the age 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records in the year fifteen. She recorded an entire album. The album was never released. Sullivan was then dropped by the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for some tracks in the album she released her debut. Among them "Backstabbers" of Timbaland, which Elliott wrote, was a hit.
